Ecofacts

September 5, 2014

Ecofacts“Ecofacts” are biological objects found at archaeological sites, such as remains of plant and animal foods. These two vials hold charred corn cob fragments (left) and kernels (right). The bones are a squirrel mandible or lower jaw (left) and a deer phalanx or toe (right). If such items are modified—for example, bones turned into tools–they are called “artifacts” instead.
