La Crosse Area Archaeology Displays

Riverside Museum

Visit La Crosse’s Riverside Museum to see exhibits pertaining to the city’s long history, from the area’s first inhabitants over 10,000 years ago to life during the steamboat era.  The museum is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day – Monday-Saturday 9:30 am–4:30 pm, Sunday 10 am-4 pm and is located in Riverside Park, La Crosse, WI.  Fee

Archaeology Center and Laboratories

UW-L Archaeology LabVisit the laboratory facility to see exhibits of many important finds from recent excavations and paintings depicting the lifestyle of this area’s previous inhabitants.  The building may be closed on some days when all staff members are in the field.  If open, usual building hours are Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..  Please check in advance to ensure that the building will be open by calling 608‑785‑8463.  Special group tours can be arranged by contacting MVAC at 608-785-8454 or by e-mailing Jean.

When visiting the Archaeology Center and Laboratories stop to see additional displays outside 310 Wimberly Hall, the Office of the Provost (227 Graff Main Hall), and in the Murphy Library Lobby. UW-L Campus Map
