June 11, 2020

Yellowware Chamber PotThis chamber pot has brown and white annular ware stripes and measures about 5½ inches tall, 9 inches in diameter at the rim, and 5¼ inches in diameter at the base. Yellowware chamber pots were sold both with and without lids, and some had handles. They were produced from the 1840s to the 1890s (Leibowitz 2002:83). This yellowware chamber pot has a broken handle, and whether it had a cover is unknown. Recovered during the 2006 excavation of an early 1840s into the 1860s privy in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
